Translate 2016

At the end of June and beginning of July 2016 I was apart of a dance project in Milton Keynes which was in the M�TUS Dance Festival. Working with choreographers Contramestre Anjo and Effie McGuire Ward.

This project looked at the two different movement styles, Contemporary and Capoeira.� Over two weekend intensives we were taught key Capoeira movements and principles to be able to fuse with Contemporary.� With this we were then be able to have a conversation within our own bodies, each other and the movement to form a phrase;

“A conversation of movement between Capoeira and Contemporary Dance – how do these two styles communicate together in performance? The graduate company has investigated how these styles translate on different bodies, whether they can be spliced together and how this pushes a distinct movement language to evolve.”
